In the  1400's a law was set forth in England that a man was allowed to
beat his  wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. Hence we have "the
rule of  thumb"

Many years ago in Scotland  , a new game was invented. It was ruled

Men  can read smaller print than women can; women can hear  better.

If  a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the
air,  the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air
the  person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has

It  was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month
after  the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all
the  mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar  was
lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know  today as
the  honeymoon.

In  English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old England  ,
when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them "Mind your  pints
and quarts, and settle down."

It's where we get the phrase  "mind your P's and  Q's"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many  years ago in England , pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the
rim, or  handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used
the  whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired
by  this  practice.

YOU  KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2006 when...

1.  You accidentally enter  your PIN on the microwave.

2.  You haven't played solitaire with  real cards in years.

3.  You have a list of 15 phone numbers to  reach your family of  three.

4.  You e-mail the person who  works at the desk next to you.

5.  Your reason for not staying in  touch with friends and family is that
they don't have e-mail  addresses.

6.  You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell  phone to see if
anyone is home to help you carry in the  groceries.

7.  Every commercial on television has a web site at  the bottom of the
screen.

8.  Leaving the house without your  cell phone, which you didn't even have
the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of  your life, is now a cause for panic and
you turn around to go and get  it.

10.  You get up in the morning and go on line before getting  your coffee.

11.  You start tilting your head sideways to  smile.  : )

12.  You're reading this and nodding and  laughing.

13.  Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going  to forward this
message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no  #9 on this list.

15.  You actually scrolled back up to check that  there wasn't a #9 on this
list.

AND NOW U R LAUGHING at  yourself.

girlfriends..

Posted by sharon at 08:48 PM on December 5, 2006.

i've been sick ever since i came back from kl. but these few days i got worse. coughin like mad, feels like my lungs are gonna pop out. and now i'm down with a cold, slept like a pig today. hopefully things get better. anyway, last night was good even though there were only mei, tracy, ahlow and me sitting in kopitiam talking. nothing fancy but it was nice to have a group of girls chatting and gossiping u know. when i came home, i suddenly had an overwhelming feeling.. kinda miss my girls. all of u. and all the girl talk. that's the best of the best. haven't had a good girl talk in a while. esp when im in kl, where the only thing ppl talk about is their studies and assignments.. sigh

i still havent been to queensbay, wanted to go when the uncles were down but didnt have parking. so decided to go maybe a week from now? when it's not so packed. wanted to go the yest with mei but lazy to drive and i was quite far away. actually went to the gym yest, now my whole body's aching. esp when i cough, abs hurt like hell. and im coughing every few mins. torturing..

went shopping with my bro 2 nights ago, as usual.. become his personal fashion stylist. he's gonna be eric's best man (remember eric mei?) so went shopping for clothes, my bro really damn laubeh man. can't wear yellow or orange. so in the end we settled for pinkish maroon, its quite bright but a bit toned down la. i think he looks good. am so proud of myself. got him his pants as well. was going to shop for evening clothes but then metro was closing. supposed to go again last night but went out with mei and tracy instead. haha. will see how la..

Posted by sharon at 11:41 PM on December 7, 2006.

im tired.. usually i wake up early for breakfast with my parents and come home to nap. but today didnt nap coz i went to the bank and got my tuition fees settled. then came home and watched some korean love story dvd, my sassy girl. which i cried, what's new? korean movies have a tendency to be very haupau one.. and also due to the viewer prob la. i myself also quite haupau one, so yeah... after that, keyed in registration forms for my dad.. then went for yoga..

today's yoga is slightly diff from last week...

1st- 3 guys attended my class! they were in their 30's dee but damn sporting la. one of them even fell asleep when we were doing the prayer pose. haha. damn funny..

2nd- its not as tiring as lst week. its still tiring but its not as difficult. last week was my first yoga class and she made us do shoulder stand dee. but the classes memang for intermediate one la.

momo is opening tmr. really wanna go but yet i have plans dee. my friend's getting married on sat and he has like 30 bottles of chivas in his hse to be opened on fri night. so have to decide betwe wedding eve/ grand opening...

oh, tracy and i are going to lipsin market tmr morn.. how happening yeah? she suddenly wanted to go market shopping.. haha. anyway, i kinda fell asleep while blogging. so now gonna cont my sleep.. cannot dee..

wedding

Posted by sharon at 04:34 PM on December 10, 2006.

been busy this whole weekend coz my friend got married yest. went for the bachelor's night on fri and missed momo's opening. was lookin forward to momo's for a long time and i was actually torn betw his bachelor's nite and momo's til my dad decided to screw me up.. so i went to his thing coz he's my bro's best friend, so i wont get into much shit of i act went to his thing. his house was full of booze but alot of his friends didnt turn up. so left about 10 of us surrounded by 30 over bottles? anyway, one of his friend is cute man!! he's a 6 footer with very athletic body and darn goodlooking.. but, he's not available dee la!! brought his gf there also, gf apparently is a pharmacist. but damn quiet one, whole night nvr talk also..

yest morn got up at 7.30 and got ready for his wedding, had 2 hours sleep only.. went over his place and helped out. then off we went to pick the bride, i sat in the wedding car no2. a kompressor, kept playin with all the buttons with my friend who was the driver.. haha. my bro was the best man.. his bride's family damn super funky psycho one man!! u know the tea ceremony where they have to offer tea to elders in order to get angpows right? her family uses red wine and henessey instead!! serious!! 2 bottles were finished durin the process and some relatives cant make it for the ceremony... usually if ur cuz all cannot come u just skip to whoever who's present right? hers got replacement one.. like whoever who;s there must go and sit and pretend as if u're that person and drink the alcohol.. and the same person drank like 3-4 times..

that's what i thought la... until the night of the wedding, when they played the video (yea, theyre super effiecient). i saw this uncle of hers i think, long haired very rugged lookin one. i counted how many times he went, he went and drank 8 times!!! imagine... 8 shots of henessey/redwine.. and the cup is full one u know. as in u can seethat the booze is almost spilling kind.. and even those others aunties who drank are like 60 something one, damn super lau ee kind.. wear those floral ahma blouses. but super happening when they drink man!!! first time i came across this kinda family/wedding.. even those games they played on the bridegroom before they get to see the bride.. all drinking games.. my god.. freaking alcoholics!!
